What You'll Do
- Write Fast and Accurately: Craft articles that are both timely and precise, covering a range of topics from politics to pop culture.
- Cover Breaking News: Be ready to jump into the fray and deliver breaking news on camera, providing your unique perspective.
- Create Video Content: Turn your written stories into engaging short-form and long-form videos for various social media platforms, including YouTube, TikTok, and Reels.
- Identify Emerging Trends: Stay ahead of the curve by spotting emerging trends and stories in both conservative and liberal media.
- Dig Deep: Scour podcasts, streams, and long-form content to uncover the hidden gems that will make headlines.
- Own Your Story: From idea to camera, you'll have the freedom to produce and shoot your own content, with support for post-production and publishing.
- Cover Both Sides: Offer a balanced perspective by covering both conservative and liberal media, ensuring a unique and essential viewpoint.
What We're Looking For
- Writing and Editing Experience: Proven experience in a fast-paced news environment, with a deep understanding of what constitutes a Mediaite story.
- On-Camera Presence: 1+ years of on-camera or social-first video experience, demonstrating a strong, engaging presence.
- News Ecosystem Knowledge: A thorough understanding of the news ecosystem, including pundits, networks, columnists, and social accounts that influence public discourse.
- Future-Oriented Instinct: The ability to anticipate the next big story and understand the preferences of the next generation of news consumers.
- Multitasking and Pressure Management: Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while making sound decisions under pressure.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work evening and weekend hours to meet the demands of the news cycle.
